Hello there and welcome.
I had 14 putters at one time.
Blades, mallets, semi-mallet, face weighted, toe weighted you name it.
I rationalized this by looking at my geography, my type of play and times of year I play. Firstly, I live in Vancouver, BC which may be one of the prettiest places in the world to play golf. Because of the beauty and landscape around Vancouver it encourages me to not belong to a club but rather to play many courses in the year. Lastly, along with the beauty and abundance of courses in and around Vancouver the mild weather here permits all-year golfing as long as you can brave the rain.
Depending on time of year and if it’s rained or not I would bring 3 or 4 putters to the course and see which one rolled better on the practice green before my round. Then I would hike the losers back to the parking lot and hit the range for a practice bucket. If you do the time math that means I’m getting to the course at least 90 minutes before my round, again depending on weather. All this to minimize my putts per round and try and save a stroke or three.
It suddenly occurred to me that the big companies had yet to make the perfect putter that could be used in any condition, weather or country. No one had come up with the perfect combination of steel and polymers, aluminum and tungsten that imparts the perfect roll, feel, and weight whether you’re playing in the desert or the mountains.
So a year ago I set out to do that, and today I am almost there.
